Interview with founder Marc Scherrer

WHAT DOES THE NAME SHERTEME ACTUALLY MEAN AND WHAT MOVED YOU TO FOUND YOUR COMPANY?

Marc Scherrer: Sherteme was created at the kitchen table, so to speak. My mother, who is well known as a specialist in dermatology, told me over dinner that many of her patients couldn't put lotion on their backs themselves and that there was no solution to what was a simple problem. That's when it clicked for me and I followed the idea with all my passion to develop a cream aid for the back. The result was Backhelp and with it the founding of Sherteme in March 2006.

Incidentally, these “medical roots” are also reflected in the company name: Sherteme stands for SHER TEAM MEDICINE. This is to show that my mother and I started out as a team. Today, however, it is recognized chemists from the Swiss cosmetics industry who support me in the development of the Sherteme formulations."

Speaking of recipes: WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT YOUR PRODUCTS?

In terms of formulations, it is basically the case that neither the number of active ingredients nor their concentration characterize a cosmetic product. Rather, it is the unique interaction of proven, proven active substances in their precise dosage. And that's exactly what I rely on - for example with plant stem cell extracts and hyaluronic acid, which by the way is a component of all Sherteme recipes. Not to forget the innovative and efficient UVA and UVB sun protection filters, which protect the skin from harmful UV light, and the pleasant fragrance of my products. It should also be mentioned that all formulations contain allergen-free perfume and are dermatologically tested and paraben-free.

But the Sherteme products are also optimally coordinated with each other in order to achieve the best possible results. I like to compare them to the musicians in a well-rehearsed orchestra. The result of this interaction: wrinkles and pigment spots are demonstrably reduced and the skin is protected from the sun. The complexion looks fresher and more well-groomed overall and you enjoy the best feeling for your skin."

THEY TALK ABOUT THE MUSICIANS OF A WELL-COORDINATED ORCHESTRA. IS IT TRUE THAT THESE MUSICIANS ALL COME FROM SWITZERLAND?

(Laughs) I assume you are addressing the Sherteme slogan “Swiss Skin Care” here. This is indeed the case. Sherteme is committed to Switzerland as a location - from development through production to packaging.
Overall, I see my company as a "boutique cosmetics company." Small but nice. With a passion for the extraordinary. Exclusive products, highest quality in all respects. For example in terms of packaging. A modern airless dispenser is used for my products. This is an extremely hygienic packaging material that prevents airborne bacteria from coming into contact with the care substances. Another point is the cooperation with the Swiss authorities. I look for these proactively, i.e. my products are voluntarily subjected to strict quality controls. I don't do it because I think it's fancy, but because it's the only way for me.

MR. SCHERRER, WHAT IS SHERTEME PERSONALLY FOR YOU?

When I held the first product in my hands in 2006, I knew I was doing the right thing. For me, Sherteme is more than a company. It is a task for life that pulls me along anew every day and to which I dedicate myself with great passion. It is a central concern for me to be able to stand behind every product and to always have an open ear for my customers. This is not an empty phrase. I vouch for that."

THE FINAL QUESTION: CAN YOU SAY IN ONE SENTENCE WHAT IS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT TO YOU AS AN ENTREPRENEUR?

That's easy. It is important to me to inspire with products that really deliver what they promise. I'm happy to vouch for that.
